Welcome to the website of Koniska, Greece

Koniska: a village, seat of the homonymous community, of Trichonida province, of Aetolias and Akarnanias prefecture, Greece. Population 217 (1981), 219 (1991). It is situated 99 km NE of Mesolongi, near Evinos river, at an altitude of 920 meters. (Encyclopaedia Papyros Larousse Britannica, Papyros, Athens 1996)

These webpages intent to make a presentation not only of Koniska but also of the village of Agios Ioannis as well as of the small settlements of Poulinos, Nissorema, Sellos, Kannavokipoi, Skala, Gidomantria etc.

If anybody has any pertinent data (pictures, text etc) he/she can send it using the contact page. Proposals for improvement are also wellcome. There is a forum where our visitors can exchange views and share their opinion.

All web pages will exist in english language too, mainly for our second, third etc generation Koniskians living outside Greece, who, perhaps, do not speak greek.

It must be emphasized that an ivaluable aid to the creation of this web site, was the excellent book of our fellow Koniskian Fotis N. Arkadopoulos "Koniska in Space and Time, Edition by I.L.E.K., Koniska 2007. This book represents years of hard work on part of the author and it came just to fill in a great gap in the literature about our village. By clicking here you can download the cover page and the contents of this book in pdf format(1.7 Mb).
